Carl Takla is a certified dog trainer and the founder and head trainer of The Dog Mentor in Lebanon. His approach is built around a simple principle: training should create a dog that functions confidently and reliably in real life, not one that simply performs commands during a session.
Carl’s work ranges from puppy development and family-dog obedience to behavioral rehabilitation, advanced off-leash training, and working dog and protection training. His experience in dog sport and working-dog training shaped his understanding of drive, temperament, pressure, motivation, and the relationship between a dog and its handler.
Rather than following one rigid system, Carl believes every dog should first be understood as an individual — genetics, temperament, environment, previous experience and the owner’s lifestyle all influence how a program should be built. That philosophy became the foundation of The Dog Mentor: a professional environment where dogs are trained, boarded and cared for under structured systems, while owners receive the education needed to maintain those results at home.
Carl places particular emphasis on clarity, structure, communication and accountability. Dogs should understand what is expected of them, owners should understand how to communicate with their dogs, and training should make everyday life easier and safer for both. His work with protection and working dogs follows the same philosophy: a capable dog is defined by stability, confidence and control, not simply aggression or intensity — including the ability to switch between work and normal family life.
Today, Carl continues to develop The Dog Mentor with the goal of raising the standard of professional dog training and canine care in Lebanon, combining practical training, structured handling and modern facility management, with the relationship between dog and owner at the center of the process.
